This time when I came to Beijing to connect with cultural and creative projects, I specifically chose the location of my stay at Jingmao Alley Hotel - Beijing Wangfujing Dongsi Subway Station Branch. It takes only 5 minutes to walk from Exit B of Dongsi Subway Station, avoiding the traffic congestion of business hotels along Chang'an Avenue. However, it can easily cover the core business points of Dongcheng. As soon as I checked in, I felt that this choice was particularly wise.
The hotel is located in a hutong on Dongsi North Street, with the original site being the Shengxifu Museum. Stepping into the vermilion gate of the quadrangle courtyard, the bustling traffic on Dongsi Street is instantly isolated. Without the heavy and oppressive atmosphere of traditional business hotels, the old courtyard with blue tiles and grey walls is filled with green plants. The rustling sound of the wind passing through the leaves is wrapped in a faint tea aroma, and the restlessness of just finishing the journey suddenly subsides. When checking in, the front desk was very efficient and proactively reminded me of the hotel's 24-hour self-service office area, where printing and scanning documents are free. For project proposals that I need to use the next day, I can organize them in just a few minutes downstairs, without having to temporarily find nearby printing shops.
The business room I live in has a new Chinese minimalist style, without any unnecessary fancy decorations, but it fully embodies the practicality of business travel. The dedicated independent office area is equipped with spacious desks, and the eye protection lighting is soft and not glaring. During cross-border video conferences, the high-speed network runs smoothly throughout the entire process, and even after modifying dozens of pages of cultural and creative project proposals, there has not been a single lag. The biggest pain point for business travelers is the large capacity refrigerator in the room. The samples I bring and the materials that need to be refrigerated can be stored securely, and even clothes that have been changed during consecutive business trips can be quickly dried and ironed in the washing and drying machine in the room. The next day, customers don't have to worry about cutting their clothes at all.
After a whole day of business docking, you don't have to cram into the crowd of chain hotels to eat self-help. You can walk 3 minutes outside to the old Beijing restaurant in the alley. A bowl of hot stewed Shaobing (Baked cake in griddle) with a bowl of crispy sesame seed cake will eat the tiredness of the whole day into the warmth. After dinner, I took a walk along the alleyway to digest my food. The smoke and fire of old Beijing wafted through the alleys, and even the nerves that had been tense all day slowly relaxed.
The subsequent business itinerary was particularly smooth: meeting clients in Wangfujing commercial district, a 15 minute walk away; Go to the cultural and creative park near Yonghe Temple to discuss cooperation, and ride a shared bicycle for 10 minutes; I caught an early flight to Daxing Airport, took the expressway from the hotel, and avoided the morning rush hour congestion throughout the journey, saving nearly 40 minutes compared to staying in a traditional business district hotel before. On the evening after finishing all my work, I sat on a wicker chair in the yard, ordered a freshly ground coffee from the hotel, and watched the sunset dye the eaves of the quadrangle courtyard warm gold. Suddenly, I realized that business trips don't have to be all about exhaustion.
I used to think that business travel in Beijing was all about rushing and attending meetings, but this time at Jingmao Alley Hotel - Beijing Wangfujing Dongsi Subway Station Branch, I realized that choosing the right place to stay can not only efficiently advance all work, but also steal half of the slow time in old Beijing. Next time I come to Dongcheng for a business trip, this will definitely be my first choice.Show more
